Welcome to my website! This is a space for me to make sense of my research through the lens of my everyday experiences. Here, I share my thoughts and experiences that do not neatly fit into the traditional academic space.
I was born and raised in India. I also had the opportunity to live and work in Canada and the US. Who I am and where I come from are inseparable from the work I do.
Following my doctoral degree in Mathematics Education at Texas A&M University, I had opportunities to work with students, teachers and educators from diverse contexts through my positions at UNESCO MGIEP, University of Calgary and University of Pittsburgh. My movement between the global south and north made me aware that the cultural neutrality assigned to modern scientific knowledge is questionable. The idealization of a western industrial society as an epitome of human advancement has had devastating effects on communities and environment around the world. Through my engagements with diverse learners, teachers and communities, my understanding of STEM knowledge and learning constantly evolved. Moving beyond the intent of STEM education towards producing qualified workforce and ensuring economic progress, I explore new opportunities to position math and STEM education towards equity and justice.
Sometimes I think and wonder about non-trivial things. If I ever consider them worthy, I will share them here :D
Please feel free to send me a email with any questions or comments, I will do my best to get back to you soon!
